Project 1: Creating an 8-bit game setup
The idea here was to create a “game” using an 8 color palette; simulating how graphics for 8 bit games were utilized. For my idea, I went with a simple Assassin versus Bodyguard theme.
This is the final result.
This is the background for the battle. It was an evil lair created using the retangular tool and paint bucket tools, along with layer manipulation.
These were the eponymous Assassin (in red) and the bodyguard (in a black suit).
This was the palette utilized for this project. It had to be made up of only 8 colors (black is counted by default so there’s no black palette present per se).
The selected palette seems to be a “dark” theme. The gray, white, silver, brown makes for a pleasant background, that goes well for the seemingly “dark” setting.
The background itself is simple, yet fitting. The gray “cattle” bricks/wall implicates a sense of entrapment to the characters–a message of fight to the death.
The character’s themselves are similar to the precedent characters of old. Perhaps intended to look like a classic. Or perhaps chosen due to limited use to tools permitted.
The colors of the characters themselves are symbolic; with the black attire and glowing red eyes, it is clear that the character holding the gun is evil. And like the old characters practicing good ol’ chivalry, the red character with the sword is the protagonist.

The palette seems to work without blue color. Brown and red also seem less used.
The line is thin.
The characters are good because they wear different color clothes and they seem realistic but It could look better if they had hairs.
The background is good especially castle because it looks real.
