Actually, technology is the most necessary tool in the world. Technology has become so essential that humans need to learn how to deal with it. In the last years, researchers have become interested in the impact that technology is having on people’s lives. However, I have to point out that the research has been emphasized in how technology is influencing the youth. As I have read in the article “Digital Immersion, Teacher Learning, and Games” by Ronald D. Owston. The author analyzes three key points on how the web can benefit the relationship between teaching and learning.

First, the author mentions what are the implications for teaching and learning due to the huge time that youth spends on technology. I get really interested in the fact that young people spend the same time as a full time job. The author states, “In a Kaiser Family Foundation study, researchers found that youth are spending, on average,
6.5 hours per day exposed to all forms of new media, which across 7 days amounts to the time typically spent on a full-time job”. A full time job is too much time to waste for doing nothing. Therefore, educators should take time to enhance learning and teaching by using technology devices.

Second, the author mentions how teachers can be benefited by the use of the Web. Here, I see a different point of view because he is mentioning the importance that Web has for students and for teachers. Teachers don’t only have to apply technology and the Web in classrooms. Moreover, they have to apply the Web for their professional learning. He points out the positive impacts that a blended learning on teacher classroom practice. By using the Web, teachers are having a good impact on students because they have to continually share their experiences with their colleagues.

Third, the author mentions how game playing in the classroom can be benefited for learning. Games have certain characteristics that develop certain areas of the brain. He states, “Games can engage students in deductive reasoning, collaborative problem solving, cooperative learning, and peer tutoring”. These characteristics are really helpful for people’s lives. If games cause these effects on students, teachers should start thinking how to use certain games to increase students’ motivation. Personally, I would like to use game playing to improve students’ performance. Having games to teach my subject will be really helpful. Math is a subject that not everyone likes, but it is essential for people’s lives. Capturing people’s attention and engagement generated by games, my goal of teaching them Math could be more interactive and effective.
